MARIE VISITS Árd Scoil na nDéise AND READS HER POEMS

Poet Marie Curran recently visited Árd Scoil na nDéise, where she spoke with groups of first year, transition year and fifth year students about her recently published poetry book “Observant Observings” (Tayen Lane Publishing) and her life since graduation. As Marie herself says “I went from science to finance to poetry, it makes little sense!”

The students listened as Marie read from her poetry book, they themselves had studied some poems before Marie’s arrival and she then discussed the meaning and stories behind each poem, while also sharing her knowledge on writing, and working with a publisher.

To finish the day, one group of pupils recited the poems “Death of a Spider”, “Aunty Daisy Dandelion” and “The Annual Point to Point Races” by heart.
