UKRAINE: ZBIG's GRAND CHESSBOARD & HOW THE WEST WAS CHECKMATED
San Francisco, CA, June 1, 2015—Ukraine: ZBIG's Grand Chessboard & How the West was Checkmated uncovers the largest “Black Swan” of our time, with regard to how the West—U.S., NATO, and the EU—faces near-term collapse, as a direct result of adhering to its quarter-century long Grand Chessboard Strategy (no easy task).
In the opinion of the authors, Baldwin and Heartsong, skilled, pragmatic Western diplomats have been entirely marginalized, if, in fact, they still exist. In their place have come the opportunists, the sycophants, the sociopaths. “Now imagine,” say the authors, “domestic policy or geostrategy developed in this environment, by these leaders.”
That geostrategy, the Grand Chessboard strategy, and its motives—to disempower Russia and maintain control of a divided Eurasia—has backfired wildly. The repercussions spoken to by Baldwin and Heartsong in 2014 have, indeed, come to pass, as a result of the West’s Ukrainian gambit. And these repercussions, the authors believe, are reconfiguring the calculus of geostrategic relationships across the world and may soon visit catastrophic failure—economic, political, social—on the West.
Ukraine: Zbig's Grand Chessboard and How the West was Checkmated takes readers from the end of the Cold War to the current Ukrainian crisis. Further, it details the Western gambit wherein unimaginable wealth, power, influence, and the sacrifice of countless lives were used to achieve its various goals, but that have, nonetheless, resulted in a resounding and catastrophic checkmate of the West.
